Last Class!

Hello everyone!

For the last class, all you need to bring is your lovely selves!  And have had your portfolios submitted via Flickr (just like a homework assignment).  Also, please bring whatever food you signed up for!

Second to Last Class:

Hello everyone!

Remember to bring your cameras next week as well as bring/wear clothes suited for your group’s theme!  Also, have some research done on how to work with models – what to do as a photographer, some things to look for, etc. – as we’ll be discussing this during class.  Also, portfolios are due a week from tomorrow!  So get cracking on those!  If you have any questions, feel free to talk to Robert or I before/after class!

Just some reminders:

Remember to do your Assignment #5 for next week’s class.  Also, remember to bring your cameras to the next 2 classes and your portfolio will be due the week after that (in three weeks!).  So, be sure to get shooting!

Saturday Field Trip

Hello Class!

So, the weather forecast for tomorrow seems clear but COLD!  Remember to dress warmly, wear comfortable walking shoes, and bring your camera equipment (lenses/film/tripod/what have you).  Also, please bring money to take the MUNI – we will be meeting up at the Powell BART station near the old side of the SF Shopping Center (I think there should be a Starbucks there) at 11AM.  The field trip will last until about 5:30-6PM when we will have to head back to Berkeley.  You are more than welcome to deviate from the group or stay longer in the City if you wish – you are only required to be present for 2 hours.

As a tentative itinerary – we will head towards Golden Gate Park by taking the N – Judah MUNI train – maybe visit Ocean Beach/local museums/and explore the park itself.  We will also probably grab lunch somewhere in the area before making our way gradually back towards downtown SF.  If you can’t make it until later, feel free to give either me or Robert a call and we’ll be able to tell you our whereabouts.

Otherwise, we hope to see you all there for a fun day of photo-shooting!

P.S. – ALSO, remember to bring your signed waivers when you come.  There is also a mini-assignment to upload to Flickr your best 5 shots from the field trip.

Field Trip!

Hey everyone,

There WILL still be a field trip later on today from 4:10-6PM.  Please meet out by the fountain in front of Stradas with your cameras, your field trip forms and something to help keep you dry! (In case of rain).

From this week:

Last Wednesday we had an in-class activity where the class was divided into groups of three and needed to come up with their own portfolios during the class period.  Each person will be responsible for taking and contributing one photo to the final portfolio which must be posted to Flickr by this Saturday before midnight.  You can transfer the photos to one person to post it with similar tags (similarly to how you submit a homework assignment).

We also decided (by majority vote) that our next assignment will be the composition exercise, which will be posted shortly under the Assignments tab.  The lecture slides are also posted online (the homework assignment can be found there as well for those of you who want to start it early).  It will be due next Wednesday the 10th.

We apologize for not being able to meet with all of you last Wednesday to discuss your portfolio proposals – if you still want to talk with either Robert or myself, feel free to come before/after class.  If you feel that you are on the right track, there is no need to meet with us, however, it never hurt to get more opinions about your final project.  Also, if any questions come up or you want to change your portfolio completely, feel free to contact us.
